There are many rules and regulations when it comes to shipping alcohol internationally. Also, each state has its own rules regarding who is licensed to produce as well as to ship alcoholic beverages in and out of its borders.
In order to ship alcohol internationally with DHL, a company must first be licensed by the state and federal government as a producer and shipper of alcoholic beverages. Next, this company must be in a state where DHL maintains a permit for shipping alcohol. You can find that list here.
If you are a customer of Preferred Shipping and are in one of these states, contact us and we can guide you through the approval process. We will send you a form called the Agreement to Transport Alcoholic Beverages. That completed form along with your State Alcohol License (often from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control) and your Federal Permit (from the Department of the Treasury, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) will allow us to get you approved to ship alcoholic beverages with DHL Express. It will be necessary to update your licenses each year in order to maintain this approval.
