How we are helping you meet new EU customs requirements

Beginning January 4th, 2023, the European Union will require any non-document shipment going to or that may transit through the EU to have the commercial invoice line-item details be transmitted to customs electronically.

To ensure all shipments processed with Preferred Shipping meet this new requirement, beginning December 28, 2022, PSCSHIP will require customers to provide the following:

  1. HTS Code
  2. Specific description of contents
  3. The commercial/proforma invoice line-item data info for all non-document shipments, regardless of if they use our paperless commercial invoice, our print commercial invoice or their own commercial invoice
When “Goods” are selected the commercial/proforma option is automatically selected and line-item detail must be provided.

The capture of this data will allow DHL to provide the commercial invoice line-item data electronically to customs authorities and ensure compliance when making the import entry with customs.

This change is a customs requirement, and ALL carriers must comply not just DHL Express.

The EU is the first group of countries that are requiring the commercial invoice line-item commodity data electronically. Many additional countries are planning to follow soon after.
